We think every vehicle from MINI is awesome here at MINI of Peabody, so when we hear the automaker may be considering adding another model to the lineup, well, that really piques our interest. According to Automotive News, the automaker is considering adding a premium sedan in the compact car segment.

The new model would round out the automaker’s lineup of volume models to five. The current volume leaders for the automaker are the 2016 MINI Cooper Hardtop 2 Door, 2016 MINI Cooper Hardtop 4 Door, 2016 MINI Cooper Clubman, and 2016 MINI Cooper Countryman. All four models are available from your Greater Boston area MINI Cooper dealers here at MINI of Peabody.

“It is a question you have to look at economically, and around the world you could say the sedan has the biggest potential, volumewise,” said MINI head Peter Schwarzenbauer, as Automotive News reported on their website www.autonews.com.

The compact sedan segment is huge, said Schwarzenbauer.

According to Automotive News the addition would further the automaker’s move towards larger sized vehicles in the compact automotive segment rather than the subcompact segment where many of the automaker’s popular models like the 2016 MINI Cooper Hardtop 2 Door are currently positioned.

The automaker’s recent all-electric Superleggera roadster concept vehicle is still under consideration as well.

Schwarzenbauer declined to give Automotive News a definitive timetable for when the new model may be announced or when it may arrive, however the automaker will make a decision sometime this year. The new model will not be a small pickup.

We think every MINI model we offer is awesome from the smallest, the 2016 MINI Cooper Hardtop 2 Door, to the largest, the five-seat, four-door 2016 MINI Cooper Countryman. Another model added to the lineup sounds great to us! Until then, be sure to come in to check out the awesome MINI vehicles we offer here at MINI of Peabody today!
