Here at MINI of Peabody, we’ve noticed that in-car technology has been evolving rapidly. Someday soon, self-driving cars may even be on the road with us! It doesn’t seem so far-fetched when you look at the technology found in some of our models. In some situations, a new MINI car can nearly drive itself, paving the way for the autonomous vehicles of the future.

Now we’re not quite dealing with completely self-driving cars, or level five autonomous vehicles, just yet, but the innovative features found in some of our MINI models show how we’ll get there. If you get behind the wheel of the 2019 MINI Convertible or the 2019 MINI Hardtop 4 Door, you’ll find the Active Driving Assistant. This technology combines two features: front collision warning and automatic emergency braking. These cars can tell if you’re at risk of getting into an accident, and it can even hit the brakes in an effort to mitigate damage or avoid a collision. Future self-driving cars will have to be able to handle tasks like these.

Our other models, including the 2019 MINI Clubman and the 2019 MINI Countryman, also offer the Active Driving Assistant. You’ll also find an adaptive cruise control feature in these vehicles though. This technology uses radar and a camera to find a safe follow distance. It keeps you driving at a constant speed, adapting to the behavior of the vehicles in front of you. In some situations, this advanced feature can take care of much of the driving for you.

So if you’re looking for a stylish new car that offers innovative technology, visit our MINI dealership serving Marblehead, MA. We’ll make it easy to find a vehicle that delivers all of the features that you need. We hope to see you soon for a test drive!
