Here at MINI of Peabody, we know that our favorite car brand has a long and storied history. The MINI cars you know and love have been bringing drivers joy for sixty years now, and the MINI brand is celebrating in a big way. It’s bringing sixty MINI cars to England’s Silverstone Circuit and taking it over.
The Silverstone Classic Outing, as it will be known, will take place on July 26th and run through July 28th. Every single one of the sixty cars in the race was built before 1966 and is still running beautifully. Originally the Silverstone Circuit could only find fifty-eight classic MINI cars, but fortunately, Motorsport UK, a regulatory council, stepped in and helped them find the final two vehicles that they needed.
Each of these classic MINI Cooper S models are powered by the same 1.275-liter inline-four engine, so the winner of the race will really be determined purely by driver skill. Speaking of skilled drivers, also in attendance will be Paddy Hopkirk. Along with his co-driver Henry Liddon, he helped MINI cars get world recognition when he won the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally. The original winning car, the MINI Cooper S #37, will be on hand for the festivities as well.
