Summertime is a great time to practice good tire care, especially since hot temps can make it tricky to maintain the right tire pressure. And so now that summer is officially here, MINI of Peabody offers these useful tips.

Tire pressure

Maintaining the right tire pressure for your MINI Countryman, MINI Hardtop, or MINI Cooper S near North Shore, MA is important for a few reasons. For one, properly inflated tires will keep your MINI car’s performance and fuel efficiency right where they should be: awesome. Also, the right tire pressure makes your MINI car that much safer, as well as less susceptible to damage from potholes, under-construction roads, etc.

If you don’t ensure your tires’ pressure is at the right level, you’ll likely wind up with tires that are either underinflated or overinflated. Underinflated tires will make your MINI car feel sluggish instead of the performance dynamo it was designed to be. It’s also harder to brake when your tires lack air, and you’ll find that your fuel economy goes south in a hurry.

On the flipside, tires that are overinflated suffer from an insufficient amount of contact with the road. This makes your MINI vehicle harder to control, especially in wet conditions. Also, overinflated tires don’t handle potholes well, which increases the chance of damage to the tires and/or rims.

Tire rotation

Our MINI dealer serving Peabody, MA highly recommends rotating your tires every 6,000 – 8,000 miles. Doing so will not only help each tire wear evenly, but also keep your car’s alignment in check. Not rotating your tires is a recipe for uneven tire wear, poor alignment, and diminished gas mileage.

Keep your tires rolling well with professional service and advice from MINI of Peabody!
